One of the most important universal laws is trust, which is the Law of Allowing.
A few years ago I came across a pamphlet from a wind turbine company, and as I had had a long time dream of being able to generate (pollution-free) the majority of the electricity we use, I was very interested. A visit was made to our property and the correct position for the turbine established. I decided to go ahead with the purchase. I then paid the first deposit, which covered the initial inspection and intention to purchase. There were also all sorts of difficulties with the Resource Consent including the need for an acoustic report and consent from all the neighbours. The acoustic report took a long time… Finally, these difficulties were sorted and the Resource Consent was granted!! This took over a year, and there seemed to be many changes of staff during this time. The turbine pole arrived, and it felt like the dream was more real – things were happening! Then the time came to pay the second deposit which covered the majority of the payment for the turbine and installation. Very shortly after paying this deposit I found that the company was in a bit of financial strife and having difficulty meeting clients’ needs. I was assured that all would be OK, and that it would happen. Eventually the hole for the turbine foundation was dug, and the concrete laid, then the trenches dug for the electrical wiring. All was ready and just waiting for the turbine to be put up. Eventually, it all happened, and there it was standing tall and proud and spinning gently in the light breeze, just as I had visualised.
During this time of more than two years, I (mostly) held the vision of the turbine being there, generating power for us, I could see it there spinning and standing tall in the centre of our property. I developed an affirmation – “Faith, Trust and Patience, all is well”, which I used to soothe myself when panic and doubt tried to set in. I must admit that many times it looked like it wasn’t going to happen, and I was going to lose all the money I had invested, so it was a very good test of the Law of Allowing.
This affirmation and just knowing that all is well is very supporting for me when I find myself in other challenging situations in my life.
I purchased a file holder one lunch time and wanted to take it home after work. I had biked to work that day and found that the file holder wouldn’t fit in the container on the back of my bike. I decided that I would carry it and did a couple of rounds of the car park to make sure that it felt OK. I considered the wind factor and estimated that there was very little wind, and it felt OK how I was carrying it.
I set the intention before I left work that my bike and I would arrive safely and efficiently home. I could see myself arriving at the gate with my bike and had a vision of the lavender bush at our gateway. All went well on the ride home until I got to the big hill. This hill is quite steep and long and even if I don’t pedal on the way down I can still hit 55 – 60 kph by the time I get to the bottom. All went well until I got to the bottom of the hill where there is a bumpy bit and a slight corner.
Then my bike got the speed wobbles. I hung on and somehow managed to ride it out, don’t ask me how I managed to stay on the bike because the wobbles became quite violent… I could hear my bag and the plastic crate which I have on the carrier to hold my bag come crashing to the ground. Somehow I managed to bring the bike to a halt (still holding the file holder) and looked back to see what had happened. There was my bag and the crate right in the middle of the road and the solar powered red flashing light I have attached to my carrier was sitting there also in the middle of the road still flashing.
In all of this there were no cars on the road, just me and my bike until I went to pick up my bag from the middle of the road. Then a car came down the hill. I was able to signal the driver to slow down while I picked up my bag, the plastic crate and the solar powered red flashing light. Amazingly nothing was damaged in my bag, nothing had been thrown out. The only thing that was broken was the stretchy strap which held the crate on the carrier on my bike.
While all this was happening something inside me somehow felt I would be OK, because I could see myself with my bike returning home safely, going in the gate at home by the lavender bush.
Setting intentions gives our subconscious instructions on how we want things to happen. It enables us to deliberately create what we want to happen – the end result anyway…. It enables us to negotiate life safely, it enables us to live the life we want. Setting an intention is like throwing a rope over a post to hold on to so that it can be our guide in any situation we may find ourselves in.
Did you know that thoughts are things and have measurable vibrations just like electricity.
The Law of Attraction states that if you hold a thought for 17 seconds another one just like it will come and join it. The longer you keep your attention focused on something, the easier it is to keep thinking about it. It is like having the radio tuned to a particular station, if the radio is tuned to 98FM that is the programme that will be heard, the programme from another radio station is unable to be heard at the same time. So it is with thoughts, you cannot think a negative thought at the same time that you are thinking a positive thought.
Everything is really two things, everything has its opposite, and you can choose to focus on either the positive side or to focus on the negative side.
Your thoughts create your reality, and you can manifest what you want in your life when you become aware of what thoughts you are thinking and choose whether you want thoughts that make you feel good or thoughts that make you feel bad. If you are focused on success, you attract success, and if you are focused on failure, you attract failure; if you are focused on health you attract health, and if you are focussed on disease, you attract disease.
Low vibrational thoughts attract more low vibrational thoughts, and the more you try to fight these the bigger they get. When low vibrational thoughts of fear and doubt, etc come up, allow them to be there and send love to them, they come from old programming, and are there for protection. Once you can love these thoughts you can be free of them. Then you can put a positive thought there instead.
The tools I use help you to focus on what is right with you, help you to overcome limitations and perceived barriers, help you to let go of the past and view your experiences in a more positive way.

The average person thinks about 60,000 thoughts each day. If these thoughts are negative and you continually beat yourself up for something you felt didn’t go the way you wanted it to, how does it make you feel? What if you were able to become more aware of these thoughts, and to be able to change them to be more supporting and positive.
One way to become more aware is to wear a bracelet or an item of jewellery that can be easily changed from one arm to the other. The intention is set to have only positive thoughts go through the mind. When one becomes aware of a negative thought, the bracelet is changed to the other arm. This exercise does two things, it helps you to become more aware of your thoughts, and because you are more aware, it enables you also to be able to change them to be more positive.
I undertook this exercise a couple of years ago, I set the intention that only positive thoughts were allowed in the gate – like drafting sheep. Mostly I would feel uncomfortable when I had a negative thought, and that helped me to become more aware of it. It didn’t take very long before it became a
habit to think positively and it is still that way. However, it is good to have self compassion here also, no beating yourself up if you observe a negative thought…
